Full Tour Description

A must for garden lovers and nature enthusiasts, this fascinating tour offered by Caribbean Horizons takes you on an exploration of the beautiful tropical flowers of Grenada, visiting three historic gardens. You’ll also meet their charming owners, who will regale you with stories of the challenges and triumphs of tropical gardening, as well as the island’s achievements at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in London. After a scenic drive through Grand Anse and the picturesque St George’s Harbour, visit Palm Tree Gardens. After touring the extensive gardens boasting over 300 plant varieties, have a drink and a chat on the veranda with the owner. Next up, Sunnyside Garden offers five acres of palms, orchids, hibiscus, bromeliads, tranquil coy ponds and more. The historic home and garden are over a hundred years old, established by the Renwick family. Continue along Morne Jaloux Ridge to Smithy’s Garden, just a mile from historic Fort Frederick. Known for its wild feel, the owner Anne will point out the various orchids, fruit trees, flowering plants, and vines. Enjoy a refreshing local juice and a chat with Anne on the veranda, with entertainment provided by the garden’s inquisitive resident birds.
