Full Tour Description

By far the most popular hiking and trekking area in Grenada is the Grand Etang Forest Reserve. Marvel at the quickly changing scenery as you drive deep into the lush rainforest in the centre of the island. At the Grand Etang Nature Centre, learn about the flora and fauna of the forest reserve. Begin your hike passing nutmeg and cinnamon trees – you’ll quickly see why Grenada earned its moniker as the Isle of Spice. Hike along the rainforest’s fern-lined trails and listen to the sounds of the rainforest – tree frogs, birds, monkeys, gurgling steams and the thunder of the waterfalls as you get closer. The sixty-foot (18m) descent leads to two of the seven falls that give St. Margaret Falls its local nickname – Seven Sisters. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the plunge pools, home to freshwater shrimp and a variety of mullet – some of which may nibble at your toes! After the steep upward return hike, enjoy a well-earned drink at the trailhead and the chance to meet the mischievous Mona monkeys before returning to St. George’s.

Guest review for Grand Etang Rainforest – Hike & Swim

“We took your rainforest tour to Grand Etang National Park and loved it! Tony was our guide, and he was fantastic. He is so knowledgeable about the flora and fauna as well as Grenadian history, and he has a great sense of humor. He even stopped along the way to allow us to take photos of sites such as the harbor in St. George. Thanks for offering such a wonderful tour!”
