Full Tour Description

Although tourism now accounts for a significant proportion of Grenada’s economy, agriculture remains an important sector. This informative and fun-filled Grenada gardens tour takes you on a full island adventure, exploring both traditional and new crops and the innovative (and delicious) things they’re made into. Enjoy the changing scenery as you drive deep into the Grand Etang Rainforest, climbing to 1,900ft (579m) above sea level, with over 300 acres of protected rainforest. Look out for the mischievous Mona monkey along the way. At Balthazar Estate, traditional crops have been replaced with the commercial production of flowers. Take in the colourful spread of giant heliconia, musas, ginger lillies and more. Continuing via the eastern town of Grenville, known for its nutmeg trade, pause for a delicious local lunch at Belmont Estate. Learn about the history of the estate and how the traditional plantation has evolved into a proudly organic and eco-friendly producer of cocoa and other crops. Sample the delicious bean-to-bar chocolate produced on site, and stock up on gifts and souvenirs. Lastly, visit River Antoine Rum Distillery, for another chance for samples and souvenirs, where white rum and liquors are produced at the 200-year old water-powered distillery.
